a cognitive map depicting one month of daily commutes through Halifax, NS. the survey compares routes taken by bicycle, walking and riding the bus. daily findings are superimposed onto an outline of a found map of Detroit.
inspired by Simon Evans’ The World , this piece also comments on the rote functionality of human existence and the visual systems we have invented to structure it. experiential recollections are communicated through “districts”, “road blocks” and “beacons” and attempt to blend the physical geography of the city with domestic elements of our flat.
